Everyone will agree that business cards are a necessity in today's business, but how many of us realize that our business cards are more than just a source of information, but also a form of advertising?
Most business cards tend to get relegated to drawers, boxes, or card folders, at least when they're not eventually cleaned out of wallets and round-filed to the garbage disposal. The key to creating successful, useful business cards is not only to create advertisements that catch people's attention, but also to have business cards that people are going to remember and that they are going to keep.
People have tried almost every trick possible in order to keep and maintain people's attention. Whether it was a photo business card, or something made on metal, plastic, lexan, acrylic, or some other material, businessmen have strived to create a business card to captures the client's interest. But no matter how novel your business card idea might be, if your product or service doesn't meet up to the expectations of the client, it doesn't matter if your business card can sing, it's going to end up in the same waste basket as the rest.
People have also tried creating business cards in different shapes and sizes, hoping to have their cards stand out above the others, but these tend to annoy clients more than anything, and really, the best hope of a non-standard business card is probably in its effectiveness in being drawn from a barrel for a free business lunch.

Promotional Items

With so much competition, it can be hard to think of or come up with the perfect promotional item. You want to make sure that your advertising or promotional message gets through to your clients, so you want to get a promotional item that will be worth the advertising dollars you intend to spend.
Calendars, pens, and notepads all have their uses, but they're quite ordinary, and while they will get some use as mundane items, they aren't going to convey your business message as effectively as you hope. While these regular everyday items are handy to have, and your client will appreciate (somewhat) the gesture, you aren't going to turn these promotional items into new business.
But one item can communicate your message while providing a necessary office function--a clock. A clock differs from other promotional items in that a clock is looked at by everyone in the office--several times a day! |

Promotional items or promotional products refers to articles of merchandise that are used in marketing and communication programs. These items are usually imprinted with a company's name, logo or slogan, and given away at trade shows, conferences, and as part of guerilla marketing campaigns. These items are also referred to by the slang terms swag (probably from the British usage of the word meaning "stolen goods" or "loot"[1]) and tchotchke (derived from a Yiddish word meaning "trinket").
Almost anything can be branded with a company’s name or logo and used for promotional purposes. Common items include t-shirts, caps, keychains, bumper stickers, pens, mugs or mouse pads. The largest product category for promotional products is wearable items, which make up more than 30% of the total. |
